30,000 Call Center Jobs were Created in the 2nd Quarter, As Large Firms Bolster Customer Service

As many as 30,000 call center jobs were created in the second quarter of 2019, with large corporate firms in healthcare, financial, and e-commerce industries increasingly bolstering their customer services.
According to Site Selection Group, Conduent’s plan to add 2,000 employees to its payroll in Jamaica is among the major expansion programs announced during the quarter. The US BPO provider is set to unveil a new call center with 200,000 square feet in a Jamaican technology park in Montego Bay.
24-7 Intouch, one of the fastest growing BPO providers in the Americas, has recently inaugurated its 17th call center in the Colombian city of Bogota.
Nearshore provider KM2 Solutions has launched a new call center with more than 27,000 square feet of floor space in Bogota, The facility is big enough to accommodate more than 800 agents.
Interestingly, onshore call center industry growing at a commendable pace. Accenture, global IT consultancy, is going to invest US$5 million in a call center in San Antonio, Texas.
Accenture has already employed more than 1,300 people in San Antonio area, with the new call center expected to create 500 full-time jobs over the next five years.
Allstate Insurance and Teleperformance are also expanding their contact center footprint in Texas, a US state with a large Latino population.
T-mobile, LinkedIn, and Wayfair, are similarly bolstering their customer service operations in the United States with the launch of new call centers.
