The National Works Agency (NWA) is reporting that seventeen roads in St. Andrew, St. Thomas, St. Catherine and Clarendon have been impacted by heavy rains since Thursday night. NWA Communication Manager Stephen Shaw told Radio Jamaica News that teams are trying to reopen some of the roads which are blocked by landslides and fallen rocks. "We have been able to do much work in the Bull Bay area. The corridor suffered somewhat from flooding, minor slips and boulders falling onto the road. We had at least three pieces of heavy duty equipment working to ensure that access was retained and maintained between St. Andrew and St. Thomas, where we would have had a significant impact and still do because we have landslides that are impacting the road from Morant River Bridge to Potosi. The Windsor Forrest to Mahogany Vale road is also being impacted at the Hagley’s Gap in the parish," he outlined. In Clarendon, there is blockage impacting the road from Mocho to Frankfield. As it relates to St. Andrew, Mr. Shaw said NWA teams have not been able to reach some areas where there have been reports of issues affecting roads. Some affected roads include Gordon Town road at Craighead, Flamstead, Mavis Bank, Mount Lebanon and Dallas Castle. "These areas are yet to receive that kind of attention, because our efforts have been concentrated on the Shooter’s Hill, Bull Bay area," he noted.
