ST JAMES, Jamaica — A woman was on Thursday sentenced to 18 months in prison for her part in defrauding a business in St James. According to the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF), 54-year-old Maxine Walker was one of two women charged with breaches of the Larceny and Proceeds of Crime Acts. Walker and the other woman, 38-year-old Neril Gordon, are said to be among several others who defrauded more than $80 million from a business place in the western parish. Walker pleaded guilty to money laundering and conspiracy to defraud while Gordon pleaded guilty to the charges of larceny as a servant and money laundering. The police said Gordon is to be sentenced on January 9, 2020 and investigations into the matter are still ongoing.
