Former NCB manager pleads guilty to multi-million dollar fraud chargesAndrea Gordon, the former senior manager at National Commercial Bank (NCB) who was accused of defrauding the financial institution of $34 million has pleaded guilty in the Home Circuit Court.
She will be sentenced on May 31. Gordon was arrested last year after it was discovered that she illegally transferred the funds over a three-year period. She pleaded guilty on Thursday to 13 fraud-related charges. When the matter was called up, the court was told that NCB has traced $111 million in suspicious transactions to Gordon. However, the indictment states that between January 1, 2017 and May 30, 2020, Gordon swindled $34 million from NCB. The court was told that when Gordon was confronted in her office last year, she started to cry and revealed that she was having financial challenges and was trying to assist a relative who was undergoing cancer treatment. However, investigations revealed that the 52-year-old manager, who earned $11.1 million annually, used the money to purchase handbags, clothing and building supplies to upgrade her house. The court also heard that Gordon, who was employed to NCB for 30 years and was a manager at the Atrium headquarters, also transferred some of the money to relatives and associates. Prior to revoking Gordon's bail, Justice Lorna Shelly Williams ordered social inquiry and antecedent reports. Gordon was subsequently taken into custody. The Financial Investigation Division indicated that it will seek a forfeiture order.
